Who was Represented on the Taskforce?


Chaired by the Minister for Sport and Recreation, the Hon Terry K Waldron, the Physical Activity Taskforce (the Taskforce) comprised of representatives from State Government agencies, local government, academic institutions and non-government organisations.

Within the structure of the Taskforce there were several advisory committees that provided strategic direction and advice to the Taskforce.

The Physical Activity Taskforce Secretariat provided administrative support to the Taskforce, its committees and members. The Secretariat was hosted by the Department of Sport and Recreation.

Taskforce Membership

Ministerial Representation

The Minister for Sport and Recreation had the delegated responsibility to oversee the Taskforce on behalf of the State Government.

State Government Members

State Government members were representatives from those State government agencies and statutory authorities whose core business has a direct influence on physical activity outcomes for the state of Western Australia.

These agencies were as follows:

  • Department of Health
  • Department of Sport and Recreation
  • Department of Transport
  • Department of Planning
  • Department of Education
  • Healthway

Local Government Members

Local Government members were those with a specific interest in and understanding of local government policy and operations, especially as they impact on physical activity outcomes at community level.

  • The WA Local Government Association (WALGA) was the Local Government member of the Taskforce.

Associate Members

Associate members were those with specific interests across non government and academia communities as well as the official advisory committees from within the Taskforce structure.

  • Fional Bull was the academic member.
  • Trevor Shilton was the non-Government member.
